"Zadok the Priest". . . never would have thought these words would ever come out of my mouth, (Judas
Priest maybe), let alone in soaring, soprano, high notes. I mean only the week before Vinyl9 had done a gig which went on until midnight - The Stones, Sabbath, AC/DC, The Who, Metallica, Greenday etc etc. The band are all French except me and they love rock music. I am the luckiest woman on the planet to have found them but that is another story.
Classical choral singing - I didn't think I had it in me, but I digress.
Our program was Vivaldi's Gloria, followed by all four of Mr Handel's Coronation hymns which have more allleeeeelooooyaaaas than you can shake a stick at. My choir, and choirs from Abbeville and Boulogne joined together to form one choir of over 150 and we were joined by an awesome youth orchestra from the Netherlands.
And it was like singing a whirlwind, like being part of a glorious dazzling storm, until the music slowed and quietened, then it was just a thread, a breath of song. Marvelous. Just marvellous.
Breathless, adrenaline filled, heart-pounding and triumphant, just after our last bow I said to the choir director
"MAN. That was nearly better than sex".
Yes.
I do have a problem with saying the first thing that comes into my head and I suspect he didn't really want to hear that . . .
So back to the Email from Didier:-
"Good Concert
Thou hast a wonderful choir
Thou canst sing Rock and Baroque"
I bet Mick Jagger never got an email like that nor Adele, nor Gaga. Just me. Only me.
Life is good to me most of the time and sometimes, just sometimes, life is AMAZING.
